Fall fashion buying tips and a Care Label Guide

Why is it that no matter what the weather is, once Labor Day is over, the stores all start to feature winter clothes?  I’m sure it’s some kind of retail conspiracy!

Well, we believe in educated consumers being the best customers, and we think it’s important that you know what those pesky care labels that you find inside your new garments mean BEFORE you buy the item!  So scroll down for a link to our Care Label Guide, and a bit of information on what to watch out for when you shop this Fall.

Take care,

The Fall Fashions Are Here.
Let the Buyer Beware

The fashion magazines are featuring what’s new for fall.  The department and specialty stores are promoting their fall lines.  And the trends for this season are now in our faces.  So what’s new?  You can click on the photo and connect to the website for NYC’s Fashion Week and get a sneak preview for Spring, but here’s what we’re seeing as the trends for Fall 2010:

Red, black and white are among the popular color choices.  Pleats are making a comeback for women (remember, if you fall in love with a pleated item, all those pleats result in a higher price to clean and press!).  More and more garments are sporting some kind of leather or fur trim (the topic for discussion in our next e-mail to you!)  Graphic prints (like the one shown above) are in vogue, and expect to see lots of fur (faux and real) vests, jackets, coats and hats too!

As you shop for your ‘fill in’ pieces this fall, we want you to take a moment before you buy and check the care label.  Avoid any label that says “SPOT CLEAN ONLY”, double check any garment trimmed in leather or faux leather (i.e. plastic) and make sure the label does not require the removal of the trim prior to cleaning or laundering.
